Carrie Tahquechi is an artist specializing in tactile art and handmade bead embroidery jewelry, blending craftsmanship with accessibility. Beginning her jewelry-making journey in the early 1980s, she refined her skills in enamel, lampwork beads, and metalwork before focusing on custom designs in 2003. Her project Touching Light: Photography You Can Feel transforms light and texture from photographs into multi-layered, 3D-printable files, allowing viewers to experience images through touch. These tactile prints, designed with high-contrast duo colors and accompanied by braille labels and audio descriptions, offer a unique way for visually impaired individuals to engage with art. Through her work, Carrie aims to redefine traditional art experiences, breaking barriers and fostering inclusivity in the art world.
