Elaine Waterman was born in New York City and has had the opportunity to live on both coasts, as well as in big cities and little towns. Her work is fueled by the energy of urban living blended with the sense of small town community. Elaine began drawing and painting very young. She had her first solo gallery show at the age of 15. She draws influence from her studies in Fashion Design, Art History and Fine Art, but is inspired mostly by myths, religion, fantasy, and seeing the beauty in found and discarded objects. Her current work focuses on interpersonal relationships and the sometimes uncomfortable things we do to each other under the pretense of good intentions.
