Susan Helen Strok

A Contemporary Figurative Artist, Susan uses classical, realist techniques to create her painting and drawings. A mystical influence often pervades her treatment of figures, objects, and animals sparked by her love of world mythology. As a child, she loved how the art connected her to the stories. She is inspired by the world's interplay of magic and reality to tell stories with her own art. Susan is currently creating a body of work in sepia toned paint inspired by old family photographs. She is fascinated by the subtle expressiveness of using muted tones and the mysterious sensation of timelessness that it offers. By painting her long ago family, she is telling their stories and celebrating her history. A sense of nostalgia created by her paintings captures the interest of the viewer and perhaps prompts them to think of their own history.
