My artistic direction is informed by the unfathomable mysteries found in our natural surroundings. In my most recent watercolor series, “Scenes from the Front Range,” I begin to unlock the peculiar qualities of water on paper. With a nod to the medium’s characteristic flow, my work brings to mind and heart the soothing murmurs of land and lake, mountain and sky, calm and storm, inviting a deeper connection to the natural world. Whatever the medium—watercolor, oil, pencil—I am always inspired by a sense of the extraordinary all around us—everyday experiences easily overlooked but when quietly observed become profound.
